The Honor 4A was spotted no later than yesterday at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, one day before its official announcement.
Huawei confirmed last week that it would launch a new cheap Android smartphone today, but did not offer any details on the phone's specs.
True to its promise, the Chinese company officially unveiled its Honor 4A smartphone, which is an affordable device that packs more than decent specs for the price you pay.
First of all, GizmoChina reports Huawei Honor 4A is now available for purchase in China for just 599 yuan ($95 / €90) for the 3G model, or for 699 yuan ($110 / €100) for the 4G LTE version.
Unfortunately, there's no telling whether or not Huawei will make the Honor 4A available outside China anytime soon. If the company decides to do that, the smartphone will certainly become one of the most popular Android devices, especially in emerging markets.
The Honor 4A could sell very well in India if Huawei decides to make it available in this country in the not-so-distant future.
Lollipop and 2GB RAM are its strongest points
Moving on to specs, Huawei Honor 4A ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box along with the company's proprietary Emotion UI 3.1 on top.
Hardware-wise, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, 2GB of RAM and only 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.
The Honor 4A sports a decent 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. It also features an 8-megapixel camera on the back with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front.
Last but not least, Huawei's affordable smartphone is powered by a 2,200 mAh battery with fast charging, and offers dual-SIM support among other connectivity options.
