We reported earlier today that the first Sony devices to receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update are Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.
For the time being, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact owners in the Baltics and Middle East can download the update, as well as those with carrier-branded smartphones in the Nordic countries.
On the other hands, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is now being pushed in Italy and no other country has been confirmed to have received the update yet.
Since this seems to be a soft launch for Android 5.1.1 Lollipop release, Sony did not publish any official changelogs of the update.
However, the folks over at XperiaBlog have been able to get their hands on a list of changes that have been included in this update and will be available for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 users.
The update is slowly rolled out globally, in stages
First of all, the official changelog mentions that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop brings improvements to volume and silent mode control, more control of alerts, as well as simplified and enhanced design.
Also, LinkedIn has been integrated with Calendar and Contacts, while camera focus, speed and accuracy improvements in Superior Auto mode have been implemented, too.
Sony confirmed that many new features for Xperia in Business and enhancing enterprise support for Xperia are also part of this major update.
After upgrading to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, users will be able to take pictures from the camera using Sony SmartWatch 3. Basically, you can use the SmartWatch 3 as a remote shutter button.
Instant calendar events have been added too, so users can create and share smart events directly from any email.
Calendar agenda in Email is another new feature that removes the need to switch to apps to check upcoming events. The update also brings richer Xperia themes, new Settings menu icons, as well as additional options for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth in notification menu.
