Huawei Ascend P7 Receiving Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update

Huawei Ascend P7 Receiving Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update

Some of you might remember that Huawei opened a public beta for Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Ascend P7 back in June. It looks like it took the Chinese company four months to make it work.

As GSMArena reports, Huawei Ascend P7 owners will now be able to upgrade their smartphones directly to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

There's no telling whether or not Huawei will also provide Ascend P7 users with an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the future.

Still, considering the smartphone has been released back in June it would make sense for Huawei to offer a new version of Android in the next couple of months.

Anyway, according to Huawei, the new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for Ascend P7 devices should start rolling out OTA (over the air) today.
Two other Huawei smartphones are now getting Lollipop updates

The good news is those who don't want to wait for the OTA update to arrive on their smartphones will be able to manually download Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for Ascend P7 via Huawei's website.

It's also worth mentioning that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update file is about 1.26GB in size, so make sure you have enough storage space before attempting to download it.

Keep in mind that your phone's battery should be at least 50% charged in order for the update to start installing on the Ascend P7.

In other news, Huawei Ascend Mate7 is getting another Android 5.1.1 Lollipop build for the European version of the smartphone.

The Chinese company did not offer an official changelog for this new Lollipop build for the Ascend Mate7, but we suspect Huawei included some small bug fixes and security patches.

Last but not least, a new firmware update is now rolling out for Huawei P8 devices, but it's still based on Android 5.0 Lollipop and has about 1.72GB in size.
