Microsoft Releases New Windows 10 Preview Wallpapers

The Windows Insider program will continue even after the launch of Windows 10 on July 29, as Microsoft wants to develop the next OS updates using feedback from its testers, and now that we’re very close to the debut of RTM, the company is showing its appreciation to insiders with new wallpapers.

Since the ninja cat wallpaper has already become famous overnight, Redmond has turned to the same Windows 10 icon, but this time it’s no longer riding a unicorn, but a T-Rex and a whale.

The company has also introduced a new animation in Skype to mark this moment, so if you’re using the VoIP client on Windows, look for the ninja cat riding a T-Rex in your app.

The new backgrounds can be used as the desktop wallpaper for those who participate in the Windows Insider program, but Microsoft also encourages them to photoshop these pictures and post the result online with the #ninjacat hashtag.
Where does the ninja cat come from?

The ninja cat has become a Windows 10 icon, and stickers showing the cat riding a unicorn can now be seen on the laptops of many Microsoft enthusiasts out there, but if you’re wondering where it comes from, Redmond has the answer:

“For those of you wondering - yes, the original ninja cat was modeled after the amazing ‘Welcome to the Internet’ image by Jason Heuse. While the ninja cat started out as just a fun little internal joke, it’s been pretty neat to see our Windows Insiders and Windows and Microsoft fans really enjoying our version of it. We were fortunately able to connect with Jason and wanted to give him props for his amazing work in creating this design and inspiring us.”
