AT&T Halts Android 5.1 Lollipop Update for Motorola Moto X (1st Gen)

One of the many smartphones that have recently received the Android 5.1 Lollipop update is Motorola's original Moto X. The US-based company has started the rollout of the update last month with the unlocked units getting it first.

Then, carrier-branded versions of Motorola Moto X (1st Gen) got the update, and the AT&T model has been been upgraded to Android 5.1 Lollipop as well.

The major American carrier announced earlier this month that it would start rolling out Android 5.1 Lollipop for the original Motorola Moto X beginning July 7.

However, it looks like AT&T has pulled the update effective today. No reasons have been given for this decision, but we suspect some major issues with Android 5.1 Lollipop for Moto X (1st Gen) might be involved.

According to AT&T, “Effective July 20, 2015, the Android 5.1 (Lollipop) software update for the Moto X (XT1058) has been temporarily suspended. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.”

As mentioned by the mobile operator, Motorola is already working on a fix for the problem that required the carrier to halt the deployment of the update. It remains to be seen how long it will take to deliver on that promise.
