Android Auto tip: Disconnect your watch (at least on long trips)

Here's an obscure tip that merges two niche Android products — but a tip that's important to those of us who dwell in these depths. If you have Android Auto in your car and wear an Android Wear watch on your wrist, you might find that the watch battery is being drained pretty significantly when you're driving.

Some one in forum says:
Has anyone had issues with their Android Wear device draining battery significantly while the phone is connected to Android Auto. I lost 40% battery on my commute to work today, about an hour and a half.

That's something I've definitely experienced on longer trips — which makes sense because you're less likely to notice the loss of a few extra percentage points after a shorter drive.

This one's popped up in Google's Android Wear Help forums as well. The unofficial culprit, it appears, is turn-by-turn directions, with the current workaround being to turn either turn off the watch, or block Google Maps notifications — neither of which is ideal, especially given that the combination of Android Wear and Android Auto is a good one. But, yeah. If you're going to be on the road for more than an hour, it's definitely something you'll want to keep an eye on.
