Video game developer Traveller's Tales and publisher Warner Bros. are using the New York Comic Con event to deliver a new trailer for LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, which is designed to show how the title will deliver a gameplay driven take on the classic sequences from both the first and the second Avengers movies.
At the same time, the two companies are revealing that gamers will be able to also play some content that's based on the other comic book driven movies in the same continuity, including Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
LEGO Marvel’s Avengers is designed to mix the classic gameplay of the brick-driven series with the superheroes and villains of the cinematic universe while also adding humorous moments and a wide variety of characters to play as.
Comic book fans will be happy to see that Traveller's Tales has recreated some of the most important moments in the previous movies, and it will be interesting to see how the company manages to integrate so many narratives into a coherent story that will keep gamers engaged.
LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will also draw inspiration from comic books
The development team says that it will use audio taken from the actual movies in order to power characters in the coming video game.
But that does not mean that gamers will be limited to the superheroes and villains that were featured in the cinematic universe, as Warner Bros. wants to mine the classic comic book to add some surprises for fans.
The Marvel universe is well represented in the video game world, with plenty of content linked to The Avengers offered for the third version of Disney Infinity.
Gamers can also play with DC Comics content in the newly launched LEGO Dimensions, which also features characters based on Doctor Who, Portal and more.
LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will be launched on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the Wii U from Nintendo, the PC, the 3DS, the Vita and older home consoles.
Gamers will be able to experience the new superhero adventure on January 26.
